MealBrain is built privacy-first. Here is the whole picture, in plain English.
Deleting the app deletes all of this. An account is optional (see below) — without one, nothing here is kept anywhere but your phone.
When you set up MealBrain, we ask whether to "Improve LogAI for everyone" (shown pre-selected; untick it and nothing is ever shared). While it's on:
If you enable sync, MealBrain writes your logged calories and macros to Apple Health or Health Connect on your device. We read nothing back, and health data never touches our servers.
If you tap the beta feedback button, your message and an optional screenshot go to our team to fix bugs. That's their only use.
Email sign-in with one-time codes, no password required. An account is only needed if you want to use Photo food diary backup (Pro). Otherwise, MealBrain works completely offline.
Pro members can enable cloud backup of their photo diary — you choose which photos to back up. Your photos are stored in your private, encrypted space and never shared, sold, or used for training. You can delete backed-up photos anytime; they're gone immediately. We never look at your diary photos except to restore them to your devices.
If you choose to snap a restaurant's menu or share a dish photo, that photo is contributed anonymously (a random install token, never your identity) to improve MealBrain's restaurant data for everyone. Menu photos are read by AI to extract item names and nutrition estimates. Only contribute photos you took yourself; don't include people in them. This is always an explicit button/toggle — nothing is ever shared automatically.
When you log a meal, MealBrain asks permission to see your location momentarily — only to suggest the restaurant you're at right now. Your GPS coordinates are never stored on our servers and never attached to any meal entry or correction. Only the restaurant name gets saved with your log. Location is never used to build a profile of where you go, and you can deny permission any time.
Subscriptions are processed by Apple/Google and RevenueCat. We see your entitlement status, never your payment details.
Material changes to this policy will be shown in-app before they take effect.
